For the record, I do not edit what the kids write. If I did, I would have not allowed Jake to make a plea for Christmas cash. Darn kids.
Now, a little more about us.
We are a family of 6. 7 is you count the dog and believe me, we count the dog. Monte and I married in October of 2006 and he was lucky enough to get a new wife and four bonus kids. Yes, the kids are all mine, no we are not having any more. Monte is the most amazing husband and step-dad. Blending our family has not been without some challenges but overall, we are all thrilled with our new family. The only thing poor Monte has not adjusted to is how much is costs to feed this crew!
We are not short in personality around here. We are all opinionated and strong and funny and talented. That's right, all of us. Ok, I'm not funny but you get the point.
I work full time in Administration for a local nonprofit family service agency. I love my job. Really. It took me some time after moving to Michigan to find my place but this is it. This job was created for me. I feel very blessed to be so happy at work. I know it's rare. I never dread going to work, the days fly by and I work with some fabulous people.
I will let Monte tell more about himself but he works too! And then we come home and tend to this crazy crew. The name of our blog came from our evening dinnertime tradition. We all go around the table and share one good and one bad thing about our day. I know, lame. But honestly our family dinner time is part of what keeps us knit together as a family. We are all busy but it is a priority to Monte and I that every night we sit down together and share a meal and a little about our day. Even Wilson joins us under the table hoping for some crumbs. I cherish these times.
So that's enough for now. I am busy doing laundry and getting the kids packed for a short trip to their dad's. He lives in Cleveland which makes it a challenge. Monte and I have big weekend plans however, we have done almost NO Christmas shopping and we have MUCH to do. A huge snow storm is threatening to hinder our plans. The kids have already decided tomorrow is a snow day but I am holding out hope that all goes according to plan. Even though one thing I have learned as a mom of four is that nothing ever goes according to plan.
